7 Days of BlogMas: Sobriety Talk, Glow-Up Tips & Morning Routines
Happy Friyay! We've got a lot to celebrate today: the last full workday of 2024, day 5 of Blogmas, and a huge milestone— I am celebrating 22 months sober. It’s a big day! On the blog today, I just felt like sitting down to chat (or type)... So without further ado, let’s get the F into it—because what’s better than a little girl talk about life, levelling up, and creating routines that make you feel like you can smash it all? Whether you’re sober curious, focused on wellness, or just figuring out how to thrive in your 20s, this one’s for you.
Sobriety: The Ultimate Glow-Up
Getting sober has honestly been the most life-changing decision I’ve ever made. At 22 months alcohol-free (still can’t believe it, WTF!), I’ve realised the real glow-up isn’t about trendy products or Instagram aesthetics (though I’ll never say no to a good skincare session). It’s about clarity—waking up clear-headed, without regrets or the dreaded hangxiety, and making choices that align with the person I want to become.
If you’re thinking about sobriety, cutting back, or even testing the waters with Dry January, here’s my advice: romanticise the hell out of your new rituals. Pour seltzer into your favourite wine glass, whip up a mocktail that feels extra special on a Friday night, or just savour those quiet, peaceful moments without a pounding headache. It’s all about creating a life that feels special—on your terms.
Glow-Up Tips That Actually Work
Let’s be real—glow-ups (sadly) don’t happen overnight. And let’s not kid ourselves: it’s about so much more than aesthetics. A true glow-up starts from the inside, building habits that make you feel good and set you up for success. With the new year around the corner, here are my no-BS tips to help you feel amazing, inside and out:
Own Your Mornings
The way you start your day sets the tone for everything else. Keep it simple:
Make your bed. It’s a small win that makes your space feel pulled together.
Hydrate. A big glass of water first thing in the morning is a game-changer for energy and focus.
Write down one thing you’re excited about. It shifts your mindset to gratitude and positivity right away.
If you’ve got time, step it up: head outside for a quick hot girl walk or sneak in a workout to get those endorphins flowing. It doesn’t have to be perfect; just start.
Prioritise Rest like a Boss
Rest isn’t just for your body; it’s for your mind too.
Create a calming evening routine with dim lighting and no screens and try bedtime meditation or stretching to wind down.
Make good sleep a non-negotiable for glowing skin and better energy.
Upgrade Your Energy
You don’t need a picture-perfect, Pinterest-worthy home to feel good in your space. Focus on the little things that create a vibe:
Declutter. Even a 10-minute tidy-up can make your environment feel lighter and more inviting.
Light a candle or diffuse essential oils to instantly elevate the mood.
Add a plant (or five). Plants don’t just look cute—they genuinely improve air quality and boost your mood.
Creating a space that feels good to you is like hitting a refresh button for your mind.
Say No To Those Energy Vampires
This one’s huge: protect your peace. If something—or someone—is constantly draining you, it’s time to let it go. You don’t owe anyone your energy.
Instead, surround yourself with people and habits that make you feel supported and energized.
Spend time on things that fill your cup. Whether that’s a solo self-care day, catching up with friends who lift you up, or diving into hobbies that make you lose track of time. Your time and energy are precious—spend them wisely.
Move Your Body In Your Way
Forget forcing workouts you hate.
Find movement you actually enjoy. Whether that’s a dance class, yoga, pilates, or just walking while listening to a favourite podcast.
Moving your body is less about calories and more about building strength, confidence, and mental clarity.
My Glow Up Morning Routine
Here’s what a typical WFH morning looks like for me:
7:45 AM – Wake up, make my bed, and brush my teeth. Starting simple keeps me grounded.
8:00 AM – Get changed, drink a big glass of water, and head out the door.
8:15 AM – Walk to the gym while jotting down my to-do list and catching up on a podcast. Multitasking queen, right?
8:30 AM – Hit the gym for an hour-long workout. Nothing beats those post-sweat endorphins!
9:45 AM – Back home, make a cup of tea & brekkie, light a candle, and settle in for work.
Nothing fancy, but keeping this routine consistent has been a game-changer. It’s all about setting the tone for a productive, feel-good day.
At the end of the day, your glow-up—whether it’s about sobriety, introducing wellness rituals or levelling up your daily routines—is about doing what feels good for you. It’s not about perfection or following someone else’s roadmap. It’s about taking small, intentional steps toward the life you want to create and celebrating every little win along the way.
Whether you’re here because you’re ready to explore sobriety, looking for ways to elevate your energy for 2025, or just figuring out how to thrive on the daily, remember: you’ve got this.
