7 Days of BlogMas: Winter Uglies, Blues & All The In Betweens
Midweek motivation is here with Day 3 of my 7 Days of BlogMas! Today, we’re diving into the not-so-glamorous side of winter—the dry skin, the seasonal depression and those endless PJ days. It’s real, it happens to all of us, and guess what? It’s o frickin' kay. Let’s embrace the winter uglies, the blues, and all the in-between moments that make us feel human this season.
The Winter Uglies: Let’s Talk About It
Let’s be real, winter doesn’t bring much of a ''glow'', unless we invest in fake tanning daily. By December, my skin feels parched, and my hair lives in a greasy ''slicked- back'' bun. But instead of fighting it, I’ve started leaning into the season.
Focus on what works: a hydrating hair mask, a rich moisturiser, and a good lip balm. Take your time with your skincare routine and make it feel intentional. Make it a ritual; throw on a headband, get cosy, and put on The Holiday. It’s not about perfection—just taking care of yourself and rolling with it.
The Winter Blues: It’s Real, But So Are You
The cold, dark days of winter can hit hard—less daylight, low energy, and the holiday season sometimes brings a mix of loneliness or nostalgia. I’ve had my fair share of “meh” days, and honestly, that’s okay.
What helps? Leaning into the feeling. Instead of forcing happiness, I let myself feel it all—without judgment. Sometimes that means curling up with a good book, taking a long bubble bath, or just enjoying a warm cup of tea while binging Four in a Bed. It’s about finding small, simple joys that make those tough days a little softer.
Everything In Between: The Little Things That Lift You Up
Amid the winter chaos, there’s magic in the little things that brighten a dreary day. Lighting your favourite candle, slipping on thick, cloud-like socks, or treating yourself to a spontaneous matcha run can shift your whole mood. Choosing joy, no matter how small, really adds up.
This is also the perfect time to create simple winter traditions. Maybe it’s a movie marathon with friends, testing out new recipes (even if you’re still figuring it out), or picking up a hobby just for fun. It doesn’t have to be Instagram-worthy—it just has to make you feel good.
So, here’s to embracing all the highs, lows, and in-between moments of this season. Same time tomorrow? Catch up on all things The Life of Molly every day and check out my IG here!
